This is the second part of our Great Cornish Pasty Adventure – you can read about the first part here.
When we woke up, the mist had set in. I couldn’t imagine a more cliched camping experience on the moors. We could hear cows and sheep through the mist but couldn’t see anything!
More pasties for breakfast in Ivy Bridge when we head out of Dartmoor, and then we started driving south down into Cornwall proper.
About an hour in, we came across the sign for the Eden Project. We veered off and spent the afternoon in the amazing domes. The Eden Project is a collection of ‘biomes’, full of different environments: a rainforest, the mediterranean. You can travel the world in an afternoon.
Inside was everything I love. Seed conservation projects, gardens filled with rare plants from around the world, and a kitchen that serves food they have grown and produced themselves.
We had a pork and sweet potato pasty and a house-made pale ale. This pasty was delicious – kind of part way between a pasty and an empanada.
They also make their own icecream! Coconut and baobab and clotted cream… so very good.
Back on the road, we drove through so many gorgeous little towns as we head down to the seaside town of St Ives.
Once we got there, we fell in love with St Ives winding streets, cobblestones and cliff-top viewpoints.
We head down to the water for the cliched fish and chips.
We head up to our campsite on the cliff overlooking St Ives and pitched our tent on the cliff.
