You might remember how ecstatic I get when Taste of Melbourne, the best food festival EVER comes around. Here is my raving hysteria and video from last years event. The Taste Festivals are held all around the world, and are the same the world over: except each is full of each places local chefs and local producers.
Here’s the video from our day:
It was better than the Melbourne one. There was more, and better, and more better. They just casually had Rene Redzepi doing a masterclass – and Daniel Boulud’s London offshoot serving Lyonnais Hot Dogs.
The producers, distillers, brewers and artisanal food producers were amazing and varied and there were more samples of everything than I could have hoped. I am like a 5 year old at Taste, and it all just got so much better when I learnt that there are not one, but TWO Tastes of London every year, a Summer and a Winter.
I can’t even tell you my favourite. Was it the green tea sundae from Bone Daddies?
The coconut milk sticky rice from Suda?
The wasa roll with shrimp tempura, quinoa, wagyu shorizo and shisito from Japanese/Brazilian/Peruvian fusion SUSHISAMBA?
The shortrib with worcestershire glaze from Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa?
I just can’t even pick. I’m not going to try.
There was foie gras and rice paper rolls with lobster and Thai food and charcuterie and British Aperitifs and Bergamot Teacakes.
We tried the new Pimms Elderflower and Blackberry and so many different types of British Gin.
