South Mountain Park is the largest municipal park in the United States, and is one of the largest urban parks in North America and in the world. Mike took me for a hike up to one of the tops of the hills to see the lights of the city at night.

The typical desert sunset went through a dozen shades of orange, pink, purple and blue, until settling on a dark blue, the sky illuminated by the lights from Phoenix.

As we walked into the park, we heard coyotes howling – it took Mike a good five minutes to convince me that they were actually REAL coyotes, not kids messing around. After we came back down we were starved – we dropped into a little Mexican hole-in-the-wall type place and had Chimichangas and horchata. I love Arizona!

Every so often it sinks in that I am on the other side of the world, living in the desert in the United States. Today was one of those days.
