I saw the ad for the Color Run months ago, and put a call out on facebook for some people to join in. Our team swelled to 12, and there were a stack of other people going, so excitement for the event amplified immensely. We spent a crazy day yesterday collecting various costume materials, picking up color run packets and putting together some insane outfits.

The photos in this post are a mixture of mine, Stina‘s and Edwards. You can see Stina‘s full album of Color Run photos here! There is a lot!

This morning Stina and Angela rocked up at 6:56AM to start the process of getting ready. And it was a process, that is for sure. Stina was snapping away, recording the day.

I needed to tame my unruly white fro-bangs.

And I had to paint my nails pink of course.

Angela checked the starting times of the warm-up Zumba.

Tutu-ed up and be-wigged, at 7:30AM we decided it was time to wake up Eric. So in we ran, and the three of us jumped up and down on his bed. The stupidhead had decided to get drunk the night before, so was not in the best shape. But the rude awakening did the trick – he got up and donned his beard wig and gun glasses.

We took the train with the more normally dressed members of our community up to the showgrounds.

We got there and met up with some of my other friends. The Chasing Runbows (our pun-tastic team name) found each other amongst the crowds.

We then head to the main stage and joined in the zumba warm-up.

We danced in bubbles at the Sony tent, and just generally danced everywhere.

Then the siren went, and we made our way to the start line.

After we took off, we had every intention of running until tutus starting becoming unruly, music started playing, and paint started flying – we ended up dancing and laughing and throwing paint at each other the whole way through.

At the other end we ran through the finish line, met up with clean, paint free Peter and we all ran at him and tackled him with a big, paint covered love-hug.

Then we went to join the massive finishing party – we got a little sidetracked by the food vans though and ended up collapsing on the grass while demolishing sausages and fries.

Angela did a pretty good paint-covered Lennon.

Eric even had paint inside his ears.

Even though we were pretty tired, we weren’t quite ready to go home, so we decided to head to Birrarung Marr and go to the People’s Market pop-up bar, part of The Residence, a pop-up music venue on the banks of the river for Melbourne Music Week.

Different restaurants take over the kitchen every day – today it was Moroccan haunt B’Stilla. We shocked and awed in our crazy costumes and paint – and of course continued dancing, and drinking blackberry cider.

Angela and I were snapchatting to Jen who was unable to make it. But she got to see the craziness!

Edward showed up – this was his reaction to seeing us for the first time. I guess we were a bit different looking from the last time he saw us.

There was a big Red Bull van with a DJ in it for some reason so we danced for a while in front of the skyline of our awesome Melbourne.

We took a few more snaps of our general crazy before parting ways for Juan, Eric and I to go the The Urban Hangi. The rest of the group head to Massive Weiners for gourmet hotdogs and picked up some wine. After dinner we all reconvened, head back to Stina’s, and continued a wonderful sunday of friends and laughter.
